You will join a NERC-funded project using next-generation sequencing to examine the biodiversity of Arsenophonus nasoniae, an inherited parasite of chalcid wasps. Our aims are to ascertain the biodiversity of A. nasoniae isolated from different host species in the field and to experimentally test the effect of host shifts on the evolutionary rate of the . bacterium, in particular examining whether host shifts are accompanied by bursts of rapid evolution in the bacterium. You should have a PhD in evolutionary ecology and experience of investigating host-parasite interactions in both the field and the laboratory, as evidenced from published work.
