The research will generate a set of feasible climate resilient and low carbon development trajectories for two or three of the poorest and most climate-sensitive countries in East Africa. The project will focus on coastal agricultural and forestry sectors in these countries. The trajectories will have to be feasible given the political and economic contexts. that shape and constrain development futures. The sustainability of these pathways will be evaluated under a set of different climate and socio-economic scenarios. The project will also evaluate the trade-offs which may have to be made to deliver these development pathways. The project will involve scenario development, policy and institutional analysis, plus field work in East Africa.
